“Il Vulcano” album cover

Il Vulcano

Haunting, mournful, hopeful. A story of longing, burning, and starting over.

“Il Vulcano” was recorded in isolation March-July 2020.

Packaging for “Il Vulcano”

A self portrait and other original photography were combined to form the album cover. For the limited edition lathe-cut record, this art was modified into a single-color silkscreen. The center labels were screenprinted directly onto the record, allowing the viewer to experience amorphous blending between the two sides.

“Unbound” album cover

“Unbound” was written and recorded while on a residency alone in the woods from August 18-26, 2019.

Instrumentation also includes a Farfisa electronic organ manufactured in the Marche region of Italy, where my paternal ancestry is from.

Mariassunta pulls from intergenerational trauma that includes Saint Maria Goretti, cousin of my great-grandmother, who was murdered while refusing the sexual advances of her assailant.

Myself surviving an abusive childhood, sibling suicide, and domestic violence, I use music to transform a family tree fraught with complexity. Pain and darkness are held simultaneously with magic and belonging.
